She has performed at the Montreal jazz Festival on 7 occasions including a 2015 performance on the Main Stage with 50,000 people attending. Her performing career spans over 24 years in venues ranging from Toronto’s storied Montreal Bistro, Tokyo’s Cotton Club and more recently concerts with symphony orchestras at Toronto’s Massey Hall and Montreal’s Maison Symphonique. Barlow was named Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2008 National Jazz Awards. There are shows and tours planned over the next year. “At the opening of ‘On a Clear Day’ you’ll hear these very dramatic cellos and this high pling pling pling of the piano and that’s basically representing the moment when I’m on the helicopter and I’m going to land on the ship.” The accompaniment of the Dutch-based Orkest Metropole magnifies the cinematic quality. She describes the songs as the soundtrack to her life. The Amundsen, a Canadian Coast Guard ship and ice-breaker in the Actic waters off Canada’s north coast. The Toronto born-and- raised singer, and voice actor, says this one began on an August night with the midnight sun. Emilie-Claire Barlow is releasing her 11th album, ‘Clear Day’, and a Canadian ice-breaker played a major role.
